BBC 4 Documentary Posters
Gibraltar: My Rock
In contrast to the other poster, this does not have a picture of a person yet the rock (as that is what the documentary is about). There is much more information such as the director and producers name as well as the date which it is being broadcasted. I think that I will take inspiration for this in my documentary as I personally think that it is important to have details on a documentary cover as the audience can look up information to see if they would like to watch it.
Harry's Favourite Thing
One thing I've noticed from looking at different documentary covers is that they are all very simple. If you look at this cover for an example, it is simply an image of Harry on a boat (his favouite thing) with the title of the documentary underneath it. It also has a small bit of text explaining how it's a personal real life story. There is a clear colour scheme of black, white, blue and green which suggests that it is a documentary for an older audience as these are 'mature' colours. The sea in the background could make people who like boats want to watch the documentary.
Orion
This documentary poster shows a clear house style representing the time period and what it is about. When creating my own poster, I will consider how it comes across to give an idea to the audience of what they would watch. There is also comments from certain critiques, I like this as it gives hope to the audience that it'll be a good documentary.
Looking into BBC 4 documentary covers has been helpful as it's given me ideas of what to look at for when I create my own. What a documentary cover shows is important as it is what the audience would first look at and judge whether or not they would like to watch it.
